Eugene Mullan Presents at eBuilding Standards Launch

1/9/16DYNAMIC EARTHEDEVELOPMENT.SCOTEugene Mullan of SSM recently presented at the launch of the eBuilding Standards.scot portal on 01 September 2016 at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.

The event was opened by Kevin Stewart, MSP and Minister for Local Government and Housing and there were presentations from Bill Dodds, Head of Building Standards at Scottish Government and Robin Presswood, Head of Economy, Planning and Employability at Fife Council. The event was attended by representatives of local authorities, the Scottish Government and national stakeholder organisations.

This portal provides a single consistent method of submitting a building warrant to all local authorities in Scotland. The site guides the completion of the information, assists in the calculation of fees and the uploading of drawing information.

In Eugene’s presentation he reflected on the benefits for the architectural profession and industry clients. SSM has benefitted from the efficiencies of e-Planning and welcomes this eDevelopment initiative to the building warrant process. There was agreement that we have come a long way from submitting hand coloured linen drawings! Eugene highlighted SSM’s approach to adopting the latest technology such as 3D modelling and project BIM whilst still using hand sketch drawings for developing early design concepts.
