HOPETOUN OFFICE DESIGN
Location: Edinburgh
Client: Bield Housing & Care
Programme: Completed 2014
SSM were commissioned to produce space planning proposals for their existing office premises, which consists of 1500m² net internal area across two separate buildings, accommodating 80 staff members in Hopetoun Street.
Key objectives of the brief called for a larger boardroom, a larger reception area and improved storage and workspaces throughout.
A thorough study of the existing office and consultation with representative from each of the office departments was carried out in order to assess the opportunities for improvements. We delivered presentations to the management team at three stages of the design process, taking their feedback on-board.
The proposal was to create a dedicated floor on the ground level for the boardroom, reception area, staff room and meeting facilities. Careful consideration was given to maximise the flexibility of these different spaces with the layout and the use of movable partitions.
Interior design concepts were developed for the reception space which addressed the desire for a friendly and welcoming first impression for members of the public. A material palate of warm timber, slate and bright colours that reflected the company’s corporate identity was used. The reception proposals also address the issues of privacy, accessibility and security into the building and the rest of the office.
