DUNDEE STUDENT HOUSING
Location: Dundee
Client: Dundee Student Villages
Programme: Completed 2007
This project provided over 1000 en-suite student bedrooms across four sites located in and around the campus of the University of Dundee, within the heart of the City of Dundee.
Two of the sites are within the campus towards the northern edge between old Hawkhill and the new Hawkhill bypass. These sites are urban in nature and the proposal reflects this location by proposing two distinct collegiate style quadrangles of residences.
A third site is located on the seafront with spectacular views over the Tay where the design exploits these views by creating a wall of accommodation facing the water.
The fourth site is suburban and located within the conservation area to the west end of the city in the grounds of a Category B Listed Victorian villa surrounded by mature woodlands. The proposals for this site also included the provision of additional conference facilities attached to the listed building.
The project, valued at £40m, commenced on site in June 2004 with the development of the sites being phased reaching completion in 2007.
