CEC Residential Sites
Location: Edinburgh
Client: The City of Edinburgh Council
Programme: Current Project
This project considers ten potential residential sites across Edinburgh, with the intention of identifying site opportunities and constraints and then suggesting the most appropriate number and mix of housing for the sites’ redevelopment.
Along with a desktop study, each of the sites was visited to allow opportunities and constraints to be identified and presented as part of a detailed site analysis. A general project brief, as well as more detailed requirements for each individual site, were developed with various council stakeholders, before initial sketch proposals for each site were prepared.
A series of meetings with the Council’s planning and transport officers were held to test the appropriateness of the proposals. Once a satisfactory approach was agreed, a site development plan, detailed accommodation schedule, simple 3D visualisation and initial cost appraisal was prepared for each site. Specific consideration was given to the most suitable tenure mix in each location, with suggestions also given as to which sites may be suitable for sale for private development.
The report is now being used by the Council to establish if there is an initial business case to deliver housing on each of the ten sites, as well as to inform later stages of the development process.
