AINSLIE PARK FOOTBALL CENTRE

This facility was developed on land adjacent to the existing Ainslie Park Sports Centre and created a new football academy, catering for both community use whilst also providing a new home for Edinburgh Spartans.

Two full size 3G football pitches are provided, a main competition pitch with a 500 seat spectator stand and a floodlit pitch for community use and training.

The two-storey clubhouse provides changing facilities for six teams along with facilities for officials and support functions such as physiotherapy treatment. It also provides social facilities for the football club including a clubroom, press facilities and a viewing terrace.

Flexibility was a key requirement as the facilities will be used by local community groups, as well as occasionally accommodating major events such as Scottish Cup matches.

The project was supported by a Sportscotland grant and extensive liaison was carried out with them throughout the design process. The final result will be a major local sports facility.
