AEGON HOUSE OFFICES
Location: Lytham, England
Client: AEGON UK
Programme: Completed 2010
This project encompassed the refurbishment of an existing 1960’s headquarters building in Lytham, with a gross floor area of 12,500m².
The brief was to improve the three wings of open plan staff accommodation to allow for a projected increase of employees from 650 to 1,000 people.
The common spaces were also drastically reconfigured to improve not only the facilities for staff but also for visitors. Two of the ground floor wings were redesigned to provide flexible executive meeting spaces and a reception area.
One of the challenges was that all the works had to be undertaken without uprooting the staff on site, therefore decant options within the existing building were investigated. Space planning and furniture selection were also undertaken in close collaboration with the client body.
The final result is a headquarters building that matches in quality the client’s other headquarters around the country but retains its own identity. The careful selection of materials and detailing of special features such as flexible meeting pods will ensure the building is productive for a further 10-15 years.
The services upgrades were undertaken by other consultants and included state-of-the-art conference facilities.
