People-Innovation-Places by Women in Property

Senior Architect Christine attended the Women in Property People-Innovation-Places summit last Thursday at Dynamic Earth.

The summit certainly provided inspiring talks and challenging discussion, most notably through Keynote speakers Suzannah Nichol OBE and Dr Marie Mary Stewart Macklin CBE.

Christine has shared her thoughts on the summit:

“As a woman in the construction industry, I am used to being in the minority, being the only woman around the table or the only woman on site.

Thankfully things are changing, and what a fantastic feeling to be amongst so many amazing women (and a few men!) within the industry. I always come away from Women in Property events feeling so inspired and empowered. Suzannah’s talk really struck a chord with me on how to not only empower myself but to do what I can to bring other women along with me, ‘a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle’ there is room for us all to shine!

The panel discussion ‘Why should we care about SPACE?’ was a particular highlight. The conversation around the opportunities available within the UK space sector was eye-opening. Who knew Scotland was such a world leader in space – mind blown!

Dr Marie Macklin CBE’s talk on the Halo project and everything she is doing for her local community from the ground up was a great example of what is achievable with some hard work, care, and perseverance.

The whole day was such a fantastic event with a great mix of speakers and topics, and all topped off with some drinks in a rainforest!“
