MORE FORTUNE PLACE SUCCESS!

SSM, Places for People and Castle Rock Edinvar are pleased to announce that Fortune Place in Edinburgh has won the ‘Development of the Year (Age Exclusive)’ Award at the Scottish Home Awards 2016!  Tudsbery Court was runner up in the ‘Affordable Housing Development of the Year (private builders)’ category. Heather Macnaughton and Charlotte Swarbrick of Castle Rock Edinvar collected the award at the black-tie dinner.

Fortune Place has also won the ‘Best Healthcare Scheme’ Award and a ‘Special Commendation for Scotland’ at the UK-wide ‘Planning and Placemaking Awards’ in June 2016. These awards ‘recognise and publicise projects, plans, people and organisations that are making places better’.

These awards come on the back of success with a Special Commendation for ‘Affordable Housing Development of the Year’ at the Homes for Scotland Awards 2016 in May.

Fortune Place in South Edinburgh is the future of affordable housing for people over the age of 60. The award winning 54 flats are designed to cater for different and changing needs to enable people live at home contently for as long as possible. The flats allow care to come to the residents, and has incorporated dementia friendly design features to future-proof the flats. Fortune Place has created spaces for people to share, encouraging people to converse, socialise and feel part of a community, supported by a concierge and the Big Lottery-funded Community Capacity Builder.
