Expertise / Conservation
We take a holistic approach to conservation architecture. It is a complex sector in need of specialist resource; requiring sensitivity and a consistently thoughtful approach to ensure the past successfully marries the future. We know this is where our clients value our expertise, experience and training the most; they can trust us to give them creative and considered solutions.
We specialise in sensitive contemporary interventions to breathe new life into old buildings. The majority of our conservation work is in listed buildings. For us, this is much more than historic conservation, it’s understanding cultural significance and entwining this with sustainability and our commitment to inclusivity. We bring a deep understanding of conservation principles, building physics and sustainability to every project. But we also bring a genuine passion for building better places through thoughtful intervention.
Detail is key in conservation, throughout every stage in the process. This is where our technical expertise adds huge value for our clients, they know they can trust our aspirational conservation design credentials combined with our specialist delivery team. Our clients tell us time and again that they value our local expertise, especially in navigating planning and engaging with local communities.
Our conservation team is led by our director, Jamie, who is a RIAS-accredited Conservation Architect and the team includes two Certified Retrofit Co-ordinators. Coupled with our significant real-world experience, these accreditations mean we can design and deliver multiple conservation projects with a balance of sensitivity and pragmatism. We also specialise in the preparation of documents which support conservation and management of historic assets, including Conservation Appraisals and Conservation Management Plans.
Highly experienced and passionate about conservation, our collaborative team is a safe pair of hands for even the most complex projects.
