Approval for Lochside Masterplan

From Gala Days in Glentrool Park to School Career Fairs in the Community Campus, we have been working with members of the Lochside Community on the design of a Masterplan to regenerate their area.

Lochside Masterplan was approved as planning guidance at the Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee on 03 June and will deliver one of the region’s largest ever regeneration projects.

On behalf of Wheatley Group South and Dumfries & Galloway Council we have prepared a landscape led community masterplan to create a vision for the area which will be delivered over the next 10 to 15 years. The £130 million regeneration is being delivered in partnership with the local community, the council, and Wheatley Homes, the region’s largest social landlord, part of Wheatley Group.

Over 1300 tenants, residents and local businesses have so far helped shape the community-led regeneration by sharing their views on the future of the area. Their views have been absolutely key to this whole process, and we are very grateful that so many had shared their ideas on the future of Lochside.

The multi-million-pound transformation will see existing Wheatley homes upgraded, hundreds of new energy-efficient homes built, connectivity and active travel routes improved, and new green space in Lochside.
