New Project – Whitburn Community Partnership Centre

SSM have been appointed by West Lothian Council as Architects, Principal Designer and Design Team Leader for a new Community Partnership Centre in Whitburn.

Following on from a feasibility study previously carried out by the Practice, this project aims to rationalise existing local community facilities and provide a high quality public building in the centre of the town.

Located on the site of the existing Whitburn Burgh Hall, the project will include retention and upgrade of parts of the existing building, including the prominent clock tower, as well as demolition to make way for a contemporary extension.  Once completed the new building will be home to the public library, museum, public-access computers, employment services and Council Information Services, as well as providing office and meeting space for council staff working within the town.  Dedicated spaces, including flexible meeting rooms, will offer facilities for a wide variety of community groups and activities.

As well as creating a modern, purpose-designed building with high sustainability standards, the Partnership Centre will also provide a real focus for community events and groups in the centre of Whitburn.
